Multilingual and Dual Language Instructional Specialist

Description
The Multilingual and Dual Language Instructional Specialist position provides instructional leadership to support both teachers of Multilingual students and teachers in Dual Language schools. The Multilingual and Dual Language Instructional Specialist creates a collaborative environment in which teachers engage in reflective conversations about their instructional practice with a specific focus on multilingualism and language learning and acquisition.

Qualifications
• Minimum five years highly successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher. • Demonstrated knowledge of the Washington State K-12 Learning Standards, 2020 WIDA ELD Standards Framework, and the Three Pillars of Dual Language from the CAL Guiding Principles, 3rd edition. • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the workshop model and the Units of Study in Reading, Writing, and Phonics. Additionally, an understanding of how this knowledge aligns with biliteracy frameworks (i.e. Teaching for Biliteracy BUFs, C6 Framework, etc.) • Demonstrated knowledge and experience creating and using school-wide plans for acceleration of student achievement in reading and writing. * The list of essential functions in this job description is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by determination of an appropriate administrator and Personnel. • Spanish speaker with significant /ELL and multicultural experience and expertise preferred • Ability to work and plan effectively with groups • Training and experience in problem solving and group process methods Experience in initiating, developing, and presenting instructional and informational programs for staff • Experience with analyzing assessment data and applying it to program planning • Willingness to work in collaboration with teachers and administrators in developing and delivering standards-based curriculum • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal rules and regulations impacting school improvement planning and implementation • Knowledge and understanding of district goals and their impact on school improvement planning and implementation • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and assigned tasks or efficient use of time.

$68,062-$124,919
