Spanish & English Dual Language
Teacher of the Year 2009
Dual Language Education of New Mexico (DLeNM) recognizes that there are many outstanding dual language classroom teachers in New Mexico. This special honor is in recognition of those educators who have made contributions to dual language education beyond the normal scope of their assigned responsibilities in the classroom. At the 2009 La Cosecha Dual Language Conference, a New Mexico Spanish and a New Mexico English Dual Language Classroom Teacher will be honored for her/his excellence, dedication and advocacy for dual language Programs.
Due to minimal response to the Teacher of the Year nomination process, where administrators, colleagues, and/or parents could nominate an outstanding dual language teacher, DLeNM has made the following modifications. DLeNM staff and their collaborators will be recommending candidates for this year’s two Teacher of the Year awards. DLeNM will be contacting district personnel to approve selected candidates and to recruit their assistance in completing all required documentation. Application and portfolio information for the Spanish and the English Dual Language Teacher of the Year can be downloaded at: http://lacosecha.dlenm.org/teacher/ A committee of dual language educators, along with sponsor representatives will select the English and Spanish Teacher of the Year finalists from those who have been nominated. All of the Teacher of the Year nominees will be recognized and the English and Spanish Teacher of the Year finalists will be honored during the 2009 La Cosecha Conference.
In addition to DLeNM, the Spanish Resource Center in Albuquerque, NM and the Progressive Spanish Language School in Cuernavaca, México are the principal sponsor(s) of this event.
