La Cosecha 2012 Call for Proposals
Bienvenidos! The Planning Committee for La Cosecha 2012 invites you to share your teaching strategies and dual language expertise with your colleagues by presenting at this year’s conference. The planning committee is particularly interested in having classroom teachers to share instructional best practices with conference attendees.
The 17th Annual La Cosecha Dual Language Conference will take place November 7-10, 2012 at the Santa Fe Convention Center and La Fonda Hotel Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Deadline for submission of proposals for La Cosecha 2012 is May 18, 2012.
Selected proposals will receive notification of proposal status via e-mail by June 16, 2012.
Lead Presenter Registration
Lead presenters need to pay a special registration rate of $170.00.
There will be a limited number of registration scholarships given to lead presenters who do not have a school or institution that can support their participation. If you would like to apply for a registration scholarship, please contact David Rogers at david@dlenm.org. Registration scholarship applications will be reviewed, and the list of those to be given a complimentary registration will be posted by August 10, 2012.
No scholarships will be awarded after August 10, 2012.
Co-Presenter Registration
All Co-Presenters must register for the conference at the appropriate registration rate.
Workshop Proposal Submission Guidelines
La Cosecha 2012 Conference Presentations will align with the seven Strands of the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education document.
To assist you in aligning your proposal with the "Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education”, please see the list of document strands and guiding principles.
Proposals should:
- Specifically address dual language education
- Align with the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education
- Include an outline of the presentation (including time increments)
- Have a duration of 1.5 hours
- Respond to a need or interest of classroom teachers
- Consist of hands-on activities, lecture, demonstration, and/or discussion
Important Notes: La Cosecha does not accept commercial presentations.
The planning committee does not accept proposals from companies or individuals who wish to demonstrate a product or service for sale.
Sponsors are awarded commercial presentations, following their level of sponsorship
- Coral Level sponsors receive one commercial presentation.
- Lapis Level sponsors receive two commercial presentations.
- Turquoise level sponsors receive three commercial presentations.

Deadline for Submission
Submissions after the deadline will be considered on a space-available basis but may not appear in the conference registration or promotional materials.
All proposals will be evaluated by the Selection Committee (comprised of dual language educators) and not all proposals will be accepted. Historically La Cosecha has received more proposals than we have been able to accept, deadline for submission of proposals for La Cosecha 2012 is May 18, 2012.
