The AMME Executive Council (of which DLeNM and NMABE are active members) has developed a comprehensive set of recommendations for the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, per the request of Assistant Secretary Thelma Meléndez de Santa Ana, in order to bring a united voice for our multilingual/multicultural community to the table in Washington, DC.
This document is currently being distributed and discussed with many in the Department of Education, and it will be a strong tool for negotiations as the ESEA is being reworked by Congress. We now have a strong platform from which to advocate for our multilingual/multicultural students, teachers and communities!
